Dr. Desh B. Sharma
Dr. Desh B. Sharma attended medical school on full scholarship at the highly prestigious University of Jammu (and Kashmir) in India and graduated in 1998. He started practicing medicine by age 24. Dr. Sharma went on to complete his residency at the New York Methodist Hospital Brooklyn in 2007. New York Methodist Hospital is affiliated with the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. Sharma has experience in psychiatrics, orthopedic medicine, anesthesia plus forensic medicine. He underwent his fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn as well and graduated in June 2012. During his tenure, he worked as a chief resident in internal medicine. Dr. Sharma worked as a hospitalist for one year in Michigan. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology/ hepatology.
He moved to San Antonio in July 2012 and has been providing care for patients with a wide range of digestive ailments including colon cancer screening, acid reflux, IBD, IBS, C diff colitis with fecal microbiota transplantation, liver and pancreatic diseases. In his free time he enjoys music, traveling and adventure sports including skydiving, bungee jumping, and white water rafting. Dr. Sharma is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu, a language spoken in Northern India and Pakistan. He and his wife have two children.
